Happy February, see you in March

I haven't blogged in over a week, and it has been the weirdest thing - the first time in years that I took a little time off of blogging for reasons other than vacation or a loss in my family. I took the week off of blogging simply because I have nothing to say, and because my heart just isn't in it right now. The funny thing is, though, I am happier than I've been in longer than I can remember. I wake up every morning in love with my home and my family, and excited to get to work on a business I'm so passionate about. A million thoughts are swimming around in my head 24/7, and none of them have to do with blogging, or even leave any room for thoughts about blogging. I truly am a one-thing-at-a-time kind of girl. That worries me for when we have children, but that's another post for another day.

I haven't really read another blog in weeks, maybe months, and I'm OK with that.

I don't have the urge to share every aspect of every moment of my life anymore (slight exaggeration), and I'm OK with that.

I don't miss outfit posts at all, and the way planning for the next one always made me feel like my wardrobe isn't good enough. Now it all just seems silly.

Bottom line, I think I've grown out of what my blog was before. I think it served it's purpose for a time, and I have no regrets. But now I need to really figure out what I want this blog to be going forward.

One thing I know for sure is that most readers can just tell when your heart isn't in it. I believe that everything you do in life will be received one thousand times better if you do it from a place of true joy and passion for that work. And I just haven't had that for blogging since somewhere in the fall, and I think I need to take a step back and re-evaluate. I don't think I'll ever decide to shut this blog down. I really, truly do enjoy blogging. Or at least I did, and I think I can get that back. I just need a break.

So I'm taking February off. February, because it's a shorter month, and because it's a cold month, and because it's the month of Matthew's birthday and our anniversary and the Bar Exam, and because there's a lot of brand maintenance I'd like to fully devote myself to in the next few weeks, before the blossoming of a busy spring for my photography business.

I'll be be back in March. March begins my favorite time of year in Austin, and it just seems like the perfect time to start fresh here. I'm going to really try to devote myself to getting caught up in February - caught up on putting my home together, caught up on emails in my blog inbox, caught up on that brand maintenance I mentioned, and hopefully all of that catching up will leave me invigorated and creative again when it comes to this online space that really is so dear to me.

I'll still be posting as per usual on Instagram if you'd like to keep up with me there, otherwise, I'll see you all back here in a few weeks. Happy February and happy month of love... :)

  3. Blogging can be a weird thing which changes with time and evolves with us, so I think it is really necessary to take a step back from time to time and think about what and why we're blogging.
I took a break from blogging in November last year and it took me a little longer than expected to get back to it because I wasn't really missing it and didn't have that much to say. Also, at that time I stopped reading blogs constantly and now I only read posts with titles which really, really get my attention - like this one :) I don't really need that much blog reading in my life.
So take your time and enjoy your blogging break!

  4. It's funny how fast we can fall out of blogging, but keep going for the sake of it - even when it doesn't feel right. You've got to do what you know is right for you. Sounds like you've got a busy month ahead! I hope you'll be back in March (Which I agree, amazing time in Austin), but if not, we all have to close that chapter at some point.

  7. I've always been such a fan of your blog. About a year ago when I first started, I stated how I was inspired to start a blog of my own after stumbling upon yours. Of course, I, too, took a break, but after only 3 posts. Mainly because I was in the middle of my last year of college, but I finally hopped back on a few months ago now that i have time to stay consistent. I still find myself coming to your page everyday to see if you have posted, and I was so excited once you did today!

Can't wait for you to come back in March. Have a great February, Jenni!

  9. I think most of us can understand this. Breaks are good! I go through phases with blogging, and my personal blog has evolved over the years. This is a good thing, to ensure we're getting what we want out of it. I will look forward to seeing you back here next month, hopefully refreshed and invigorated and with lots to say!

  12. Good for you for taking charge of your life and being in touch with your feelings. Sometimes you need a break or to even reevaluate what you really want in life. I envy how popular and beautiful your blog is and am starting to realize myself how time consuming it is to keep a well oiled blog machine running.

  13. I just took a break from blogging for all the same reasons that you just listed. This week has been my first week back in months. I must say that taking a break was absolutely amazing. I was able to reflect and rethink about what I wanted my blog to be (and I considered never coming back to blogging as well). My break was a wonderfully eye opening experience and now I'm back to blogging with a entirely new perspective. I hope you enjoy your time off and I hope you find your passion for blogging again. And, if not, that's okay too. Just be happy :)

  16. I am all for blogging breaks. In fact I am so for blogging breaks that I really committed to it and took one for a whole year. Yeah. (Maybe it wasn't entirely a conscious decision and was more because I just started to totally slack off on it, but that is beside the point.) So I totally get where you're coming from on not being able to do something you can't fully put your heart into. When you get to the point where you feel like you're forcing it, it's time to walk away for a bit. I hope you enjoy your blogging sabbatical!

  17. Love the honesty! If it's any help, I think you should blog about what you're passionate about right now - which is your business and photography. And as a fellow photographer, I'd love to see more of your work. Your writing is perfection and that tied with your gorgeous photos would be amazing! Enjoy the time off. Happy to see what you come up with in March!

  22. I totally get it. I haven't really blogged consistently since before Christmas. It wasn't my intention, but life knows how to get in the way. When that happens, we need to prioritize. With the bad weather here as well, we've had house issues. Prioritize. I have t decided when I'll fully be back to it, but I am piling up posts in my head and photos. Enjoy your February love ~ Happy Anniversary and happy celebrating the hubsters day! Cheers.

    PS-see you on Instagram

  31. I am posting on this site on how a great Dr Brave help me bring back my wife ??

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in Texas,USA.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.(bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website http://bravespellcaster.yolasite.com,if you are in any condition like this,or you have any problem related to “bringing your ex back. So thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family once again.{bravespellcaster@gmail.com} , Thanks........

  33. Good Day everybody!!my boyfriend and I were happy as far as I could tell and I never thought that we would break up. When his cousin died in a tragic car accident he went back to Philippine for a week to be with his family. I could not go because I was in the middle of entertaining out of town clients for work. He did not seem to be upset that I could not go so I let him be. The next thing that I know, he reconnected with an old friend from high school that he had a crush on years ago and they started to have an affair! I had no clue what was going on until a month after he came back from Philippine. He proceeded to see both her and I until I caught him testing her one night. I confronted him and he told me the truth about what happened. We broke up and went our separate ways. Neither of us fought for our relationship. I was angry and decided not to be upset about it and just keep it moving. Then after about a month of not speaking to him I became sad. I wanted him to tell me that he wanted to be with me and not her. I contacted Dr Brave bravespellcaster@gmail.com for a love spell and he totally helped me! he was able to get him to miss me to where he wanted to get back together again. He had a lot of regrets and felt bad for not fighting to keep me and for cheating in general. He values our relationship so much more now and we are together now! You can also get your lover back with the help of Dr Brave contact Email:bravespellcaster@gmail.com,or kindly visit he websitehttp://enchantedscents.tripod.com/lovespell/.
