I may have outfit photos up today, but I'd like to talk about something more serious: Downton Abbey. I have been hearing about this show for months now, from other bloggers, from friends, and from my own Grandma, for goodness sake. But as per usual, I was late for the bandwagon. Last week, however, I decided to watch the first episode. And into the abyss I went.
What I find truly remarkable, however, is that Matthew has also fallen hook, line, and sinker for Downton, and we spent a glorious weekend cuddling on the couch and watching episode after episode, and he wasn't even sad about it. Sounds wonderful, yes, but gosh that show is stressful. The drama! The suspense! The relationships and the twists! It's almost too much to bear. The acting is really excellent, too, and the sets and costumes. I want every one of the sisters' outfits, don't you?
Do you watch? Do you love it?
Happy Monday. :)

LOVE Downton Abbey, but goodness was the last season emotionally exhausting. I won't spoil it for you, but get a good box of tissue before you start it!
ReplyDeleteMy mom and aunt were obsessed with Downton Abbey as soon as it began and I would see them watching it and literally leave the room it looked so unappealing. My mom finally sent me the first season and told me to please watch it - I can't believe I doubted it's greatness!!!
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite shows, but this season(the 3rd) was ridiculously sad! i cried so much!
ReplyDeleteWe were late as well but looove it. Are you all caught up?! My parents were in on the hipness well before I was apparently! We had the SAME deal and then caught up with the current episodes. And trust me. The stress and drama are THAT MUCH WORSE when you actually have to wait each week, and now months!, before the next episode. ahhhh. I just need to wait to watch any series until it's all the way over. So much more enjoyable in one big chunk.
ReplyDeleteOMG me too! I was so against it in the beginning b/c it seemed like EVERYONE else was doing it and I was too cool for school. But when my mom was here a few weeks ago she watched the Season 3 finale and after I watched it I was like, "Crap, now I have to see this from the beginning!" It's kinda sad that I know what's going to happen from the beginning but I was hooked nonetheless! I watched the first 2 seasons in like 3 days. It is crazy how sucked in you get!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Downtown Abbey but I have to tell you that that dress is perfect on you!
ReplyDeleteAHHH! Downton Is amazing! My husband and I love love love love love that show!!!! The Dowager duchess is my absolute favorite- so witty and funny for her age :) Have you watched Mad Men at all? If not, you must! The first few episodes are a little dry as they're really developing the characters and story line for you...but it's so worth it. The drama is absolutely insane!
ReplyDeleteLooking Absolutely gorg!! and I'm totally with you on the Downton!
ReplyDeleteI just watched the first episode last week! It is taking everything in me to not get 100% sucked in and drop my whole life to watch the entire first season. So I envy your weekend of cuddling and TV watching.
If you were wearing that outfit... guarantee you weren't just cuddling ;)HOTTTTTT!
OMG - Jenni. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Everyone is talking about this show and it's driving me nuts. Literally, at work, on blogs, twitter, everywhere. I tried watching the first episode and it just drove me nuts.
ReplyDeleteGAH. You make me want to give it another try.

Samm, the first episode sucked. I basically watched the second episode only because I was a bit curious about the gay footman and the rest of the relationships, and thought it HAD to get better since everyone loved it so much. From the second episode on, it gets sooooo good. Give it another try!!
Deletelove downton. and have from the beginning :) soooooo amazing
ReplyDeleteI have yet to watch it. I know I know...I need to but with all the amazing shows out there I would never get my butt off the couch! I will eventually get to it!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is so cute and is making me yearn for spring.
LOVE it. I'm so glad I live in the UK and we got season 3 first. That never happens!!! Plus I'll be able to go visit the castle this summer like a true stalker fan! Ha! My husband is thrilled.....
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen that show yet, but I've heard great things! Most of my girlfriend's are obsessed with it. Do you and Matthew watch The Walking Dead? I just feel like that should be a must for your zombie obsessed husband.
ReplyDeletewatch it. love it. before i say more, i need to know if you're caught up or not.
ReplyDeleteno spoiler alerts here.
Loved this outfit, then I realized you were also wearing my bracelet! Looks fabulous!!

My husband and I are Downton addicts. I get so frustrated that it airs in the UK first!
ReplyDeleteYay! So happy you're hooked! Now we'll have more goodness to chat about when we meet for coffee! :)
ReplyDeletePS. Jealous. Wish SH was up for DA. He's so not into it. :(
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Downton Abbey. Maggie Smith is AMAZING in it. I managed to get a male friend into it too- I think it appealed to our history-nerd brains! You have SO MUCH exciting stuff to come though, enjoy! x
ReplyDeleteI love that dress! I'm loving everything mint right now!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And we love that show! Just waiting for more episodes to be added to Netflix! :)
ReplyDeleteLove Downton Abbey! We download all of our shows, so we are up-to-date on episode. My boyfriend is so into the show too, in fact it was him that had to convince me to watch it. Fantastic show!!
ReplyDeletehttp://somesnapshots.wordpress.com/
Late on the wagon too. Been debating whether or not I should add this to my already busy life. I think you just convinced me :)
ReplyDeleteLiterally everyone I know loves that show but I still haven't seen it! This dress looks amazing on you and I love the bright bag as well!
ReplyDeleteelle [wonderfelle world]

ReplyDeleteUgh, I STILL haven't seen it yet. I need to find it online or something so I can finally see what all the hype is about!!!
ReplyDeleteThe BEST show ever! You just wait...
ReplyDeleteI don't. But I know I need to. EVERYONE keeps talking about it. The madness!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit. So delicate and sweet :)
UM that color is amaze on you Jenni. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING Downton! I started two weeks ago when people were freaking out all over social media after the last episode of season three. I had to know what all the fuss was about. So yeah, I started watching and am almost finished with season two! It's so darn good!
ReplyDeleteYour dress is really pretty. I tried to watch Downton Abbey last night for the first time and I don't know why, but I just couldn't get into it. Sounds like I need to give it another try. :)
ReplyDeletewww.shannonheartsblog.com
My hubs is totally into it too. We love it! Isn't it great??? I'm thinking about adopting a British accent...wanna join me? :) We could start pin curling our hair and practice looking real snobby, too.
ReplyDeleteThe Mrs. and The Momma
what?! he watched it with you?! I noticed it on Netflix and told my husband I wanted to start watching it, he didn't seem interested. Like you said though, every other blogger talks about this show...lol... Don't worry, I might be last on the bandwagon.
ReplyDeleteOkay Downton, am I a loser? I watched the first episode and just didn't get sucked in. Maybe I need to give it another try. I am however a Homeland, Breaking Bad and Girls junky.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I tried my hand at an outfit post this weekend and girl, you make it look so much easier than it is. Bravo for looking effortlessly stylish and put together!
Lastly, the color of the dress you are wearing is d-i-v-i-n-e. Stunning per usual!
I haven't watched it yet, but I feel like I should because you're probably the tenth person who has recommended it :). I love this oufit btw. Beautiful as always!!
ReplyDeletemy husband loves it too. it is so well written and captivating!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is gorgeous! It looks beautiful on you! I too am late for the wagon-but I still haven't even got on it!
ReplyDeletei just finished watching the latest season, it is SO addicting!
ReplyDeleteI watch--and love--Downton. Thank goodness for netflix so I could catch up! :) :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
Now, to wait for next season . . :(
Gorgeous outfit!
ReplyDeleteI have the first season on dvd but I haven't started it yet. I am waiting for my cousin to come back for us to start it together.
I was a little late on that one, too. I wolfed down Season 1 last week only to discover that Netflix doesn't have any other seasons. Thank goodness for my Amazon Prime membership...I might have lost my mind. It really is an incredible show. What's funny is that during a lab meeting with my mentor/microbiology professor last Thursday, she confessed that she hadn't graded our exams because of her recent Downton Abbey obsession. The meeting came to a screeching halt and we spent 10 minutes talking about the show. I run into people all the time who can't get enough of it.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone I know has watched this show...except me! I may have to jump on the late bandwagon too!
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with that show! I watched it from the beginning and waiting between seasons is torture. Glad you are enjoying it :)
ReplyDeletei love it. so happy that you husband loves it too!! that is awesome. my hubby would rather - do something totally different. ha. ha!! i will say - since you have not seen much - it will be interesting to see where the show goes next. i wonder??! but i sure will be there to watch just to find out. ha. ha!! ENJOY!! ( :
ReplyDeleteI never thought twice about watching this show. Didn't really think it was geared toward my liking... After your reading your post and sifting through all the comments, I decided hey, it can't hurt to just press Play on the remote and watch On Demand...... I honestly had no real idea what it was about and I already think I love it!!! :) thanks
ReplyDeleteI got hooked after the first episode and watched the first 2 seasons in a week and even subscribed to Hulu just so I could watch season 2. I just finished season 3 last week and holy man that show is stressful! Glad you're enjoying it. Keep us posted on what you think of season 3!
ReplyDeleteCall me addicted!! WE (yes..my husband and I)...LOVE it too. We don't watch when it is new---we wait until we can see all the episodes too and watch several in a row. Just finished season 2. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband doesn't watch it consistently but if I have it on and he's home, all of a sudden he wanders to the couch. I find it hilarious that he pretends not to be into it!
ReplyDeleteAnd each season gets better and better!
I love Downton Abbey! I first saw the first season on netflix, and told my sister about it. Then I watched the second season, and now the third season. And of course I have the dvds!
ReplyDeleteIt's a really great show. Granted, some things are 'high drama' because they want people to watch, but still it's great.
Glad you finally 'got on the wagon' Jenni!
You look stunning!
ReplyDeleteDidn't start Downton Abbey yet. Guess i should huh? ;)
That outfit is great. I have a feeling cute dresses are going to be the downfall of my wallet this spring. Also, my roommate's addicted to Downton Abbey - maybe I should give it a chance. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Friday Night Lights, so I'm all set to start on Downton!! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenni!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely stunning in this dress - the color is amazing. It's so funny you mention about getting on the Downton Abbey bandwagon... I've been thinking that too lately, everyone is talking about it!! Seeing someone else get converted has made me want to see it even more - thanks for the inspiration of what I'll be doing over the weekend :)
