I have never sent out a Christmas card. Never!
What it boils down to is laziness and procrastination on my part, because I love the idea of Christmas cards and really enjoy receiving them from friends and family, but I've just never gotten around to sending them. I am enough of a Cluster-You-Know-What around the holidays without adding in another to-do list item like sending out cards. Plus, if you send them out every year, people will come to expect them. I like to keep expectations low around here.
BUT. This year I had the ingenious idea of making a virtual Christmas card post on the blog, and that way family, friends, and beloved readers of SOML alike can all enjoy our card. And the best part is it took almost no effort, and I don't have to pay shipping. BOOM.
Print this baby out and hang it on your fridge, yo. (let's be honest here... the only one who might do that is my mom, and even then, it's highly unlikely.)
*Card by Tiny Prints, which is THE place to go for holiday cards! Love the choices over there.
**MERRY banner by Bungalov. Such a sweet shop stuffed with upcycled shabby chic and vintage finds! (banners, chicken wire frames for jewelry, decor, and more. My favorites are the banners - planning to use them in upcoming photo shoots. Best news: SOML readers get 15% off in the shop through THE END OF JANUARY with the code storyofmylife15)

And here are a few more shots that didn't make it on to the Christmas card! Thought they were still worthy of posting... especially the last few. :)
My mom and I were fiddling with my camera when we turned around to find Matthew had wrapped our "merry" banner around his head. Men.
Consider this your formal MERRY CHRISTMAS, from my family to yours! :)

cute! I have no idea why the last few photos didn't make it, hehe. Merry Christmas to you too!
ReplyDeleteugh i did a christmas card last year and i've been too busy to think about it this year... not okay??
ReplyDeletehahaha, oh Matthew!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love the idea - then if/when you send out hard-copy cards people will be REALLY blown away ;) (totally just giving you a hard time!)
ReplyDeleteGreat thing about doing it this way? You also get to see the other awesome photos you took that didn't make it in the card!
Love your christmas card. :) Haha...love the pictures of matthew at the end better--hilarious. He seems like such a good sport. Ha. I think my husband and him could have a lot to talk about! Haha.
ReplyDeletehahaha, looove the head wrap.
ReplyDeletethat's so something my husband would do, too.
such a beautiful christmas card. thanks for sharing! :)
this totally surprises me about you. You are all about the photos...why not use them to fill peoples' mail boxes?
ReplyDeleteeither way I am glad you shared these photos. They are quite festive and you two are as adorable as ever!
hahahaha, I love how honest you are. I never send out a Christmas card either. I always make up different excuses, but the truth is that I am just LAZY. Maybe one day I'll get it together. It's nice to know I am not alone! :D
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picture of you and Matthew! Merry Christmas!
I love it! What a great picture! (o: You're right, Tiny Prints IS the place to go. Sadly, I can't afford to go there for Christmas cards since I send out about 100 every year, but they do have the best selection out there hands down. I send out cards because I genuinely enjoy doing it. I'm a Christmas card geek perhaps!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love Christmas cards :) and yet quite a few people are going virtual or just giving them up all together. I get it....It's kind of a waste of money and postage is getting crazy. Still, they are fun.
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas cards... sending and receiving. I like the gesture... of sitting down and writing thoughtful notes to everyone. I won't lie though. I don't get many in return. But I figure if I keep sending sending sending... at some point I'll get more in return. I've also noticed when I make them myself, people get really really excited and that makes it worth it alone. This year though I got them at Target. The shame.
ReplyDeleteI love this! We are taking our picture this weekend!

You guys are such a gorgeous couple! Happy Holidays to you! So did your mom take these photos? They are great!
ReplyDeletehttp://ashlie-kristin.blogspot.com/
Yep, my mom took these! She's getting quite good! :)
DeleteThis is such a good idea, one I've been toying with myself. Every year, without fail, I claim that this is the year I'm actually sending out cards... and then it doesn't happen. You'd think I'd learn by now. So, FB and the the blog might be what everyone gets (so thanks for helping me feel better about my own procrastination, lol!)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you as well :)
xoxo J
LOVe the pics! Thanks for sharing about my little old shop and banner!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea. You save paper and postage too! I might have to steal this idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of you two! Merry Christmas : )
Ahahaa love this! I just ordered our Christmas cards a few days ago from Tiny Prints :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I love Tiny Prints. That's where we got our son's Baptism cards- such good quality. And the thought of an e-card is such a good idea. I sent out Christmas cards twice- for our first Christmas and now for our son's 1st Christmas. I'm sure people would rather see him than us, so the tradition may continue, we'll see :) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! You guys are a great looking couple :)

Awe such a cute online christmas card! But I'll have you know, I will always expect this now. ;) Cute pics! You're both so photogenic it's scary. Merry Christmas J!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea :) I use to send out cards but got lazy after I had a baby (which is probably the more important time to send them) because I have a HUGE family. So this year I am only sending out cards to Parents and Grandparents.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE that card, but what I really really love is your scarf! I want a plaid scarf. where did you get it??
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy! I got it from a shop called Vintage Dutch Girl, last year! Looks like she's on vacay right now though! :( http://www.etsy.com/shop/VintageDutchGirl
DeleteThanks!
Deletei've always sent out the generic Christmas cards because i'm too lazy, haha.
ReplyDeletelove these pictures. you and Matthew are such a gorgeous couple!
Haha At least your husband was enjoying it and having fun! I've never sent out a Christmas card either! This is my first Christmas with my husband since our wedding, so even though I procrastinated (Just bought the cards yesterday) I'm still determined to start a new tradition!
ReplyDeleteLove your card :)
I've never sent out Christmas cards either, though I'm not married or don't have any kids so I don't feel like it's expected. I've always wanted to thought, I think it would be fun to do some sort of funny picture and card with my roommates but my laziness always gets the best of me. Your pictures are beautiful! I'm so envious of your photography skills!
ReplyDeleteSO ADORABLE! I love your card, girly. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSUCH a cute card, even if it is virtual :)

Love it! I sent out Christmas cards once. That's it though lol. It's too much of a hassle to get everyone's address...or keep them all in the same place for the following year. I can't. haha
ReplyDeleteHello! I just came across your blog, and I love it! Your Christmas card photos are gorgeous! I’ve decided to follow you! If you get a minute, I’d love to know what you think of my latest outfit post! While you’re visiting, follow along so we can keep in touch! :)

That's such a great idea!! Much easier than having to send a card to so many people. Love your virtual Christmas card!! So cute. And love the other shots as well! You guys are such a cute couple! And I love the shots with the banner on Matthew's head! That's funny. Gotta love a guy with a sense of humor! :)

ReplyDeleteLOVE the card, and clever idea! x
ReplyDeletecute card
ReplyDeleteLove the card, love the banner idea, love that your mom took the pictures...but most of all, love that you all had fun doing it :)
ReplyDeleteI sent Christmas cards one time. The year my son was born. 9 years ago. But, most of my family & friends are in Australia, while I'm here in the U.S...so they all have to settle for a facebook message. No where near as cute as your Christmas card!
First of all...the card...I die. I think y'all just might be the prettiest couple ALIVE! Really!
ReplyDeleteSecond-Matthew is such a trooper!! LOL
Third-your hair. Stop it! It's amazing.
For a second there, I thought Matthew had your panties on his head and I was about to get really amped that you put that on your Christmas card. Maybe next year? That would be the Christmas card to remember.
ReplyDeleteYou two kids are look great!
Such a genius idea! And those last few pictures of Matthew...
