Carry On

I am feeling uninspired today.

Distracted.

Busy.

Four photo sessions to edit, which tends to crowd out my desire to blog. I'm happy though. Thankful to be busy. I love my family and my life and that it's cold here in Texas this week. Yesterday I had two cups of coffee, a cup of hot cocoa, a cup of hot tea, and some peppermint ice cream.  Trying to get it all in before it feels like summer again.

Can you believe that next week is Thanksgiving already? This time last year I went to the dentist and was told I had a massive cyst in my jaw, and then I was given referrals to a facial reconstructionist and oral surgeon. Scared the shit out of me, excuse my french. This November Matthew has been told he has two grape sized tumors on his liver, and while the doctors don't seem terribly concerned just yet, we're still like "Woah, not cool! What does this mean?" Hopefully nothing. You'll certainly hear from me if it's anything serious!

Life, you crazy thing.

Sometimes Wednesdays need an anthem like this. Cute lead singers don't hurt either. Hope your hump day is a good one!

PS - I am currently obsessed with this band (Fun). I literally teared up when I found out they were coming to Austin in February... and that the show is sold out. STUPID.

  1. Yuck! Bless your heart, Jenni! I hope it's nothing. Our family seemed to follow a pattern with scares in the last few years as well! Thank the Lord, they were all treatable. Prayers your say, shug!

  2. I love the ongoing list of warm, tasty drinks [and ice cream] that you enjoyed :) You sound just like me. Lately, I haven't been able to get enough of hot apple cider thanks to my Keurig. I can't believe I haven't had peppermint ice cream yet! My favorite!

Sending good thoughts to Matthew in hopes that those silly tumors go away :( Ugh. Life sure throws challenges and freak-outs our way, huh? Hang in there and good luck editing those photo sessions! xo

  5. Um... WHAT?!?! NO! Can't there just be nothing going on for you guys? Seriously. Praying for you guys that everything is fine with Matthew.

I think I am permanently scared for November. On November 22nd last year (Thanksgiving this year) I found out I had thyroid cancer. Scared the shit out of me too. I'm just so glad it isn't this time last year.

  8. Hope everything is ok with Matthew! Always scary and stressful to have health things happen. Makes me appreciate days of good health for me and the people I love.

About a year ago my boyfriend had to go to the emergency clinic for some horrible stomach pains. The stomach stuff didn't turn out to be anything major, but they did find a mass of something on top of his liver. Everything is fine, and he is healthy, but it scared me to death. Sometimes I think medicine has gotten so advance that they are finding things that even 4-5 years ago, people didn't know about or have lived with their whole lives. It is a miracle we have such amazing sources of medicial information, but can also be pretty scary and intimidating. My thoughts are with you both!!

  9. Jenni.

Did you know there are seven days in the week? Well my friend, there is.

Did you also know that Wednesday is the worst of all the days? i promise. just trust me on this. I never get out of bed without mumbling "**** Wednesday" (insert swear word of choice)

Tumors and Cysts. That blows almost as much as Fun. being sold out.. "I will you a flower shop.. and you will never be lonely.." am I just pouring salt into the wound? (just so you know I know tumors and cysts are a big deal and I'm mindful of it, very mindful of the two of you, granted your cyst is so last year.)

  11. Life throws us curveballs, that's for sure. Last time this year, my dad started feeling sick and would die one month later. The day after Christmas. This was only after we'd filed bankruptcy, lost our home, my childhood dog died, and then my mother passed. Yes, life throws us curveballs. You're tough though :) Well, we get tough when it's necessary. I'll keep you in my thoughts, love! And I totally know what you mean.. when I have lots of editing to do my creativity shuts down. It's not my favorite part of the process! Xo

  12. HOLY GEEZ. I hope Matthew is OK. Life's just tryin' to give you the ol' 1-2-punch, so just kick it in the shin, slap it across the face, and call it a day. ;)

  13. Life is so crazy. I hope everything is alright! and you have to find a way to go to fun. They are so much FUN! in concert! :) You should also check out this video, even though the guy is not as cute, he is dancing around in his underwear...and who doesn't like some good dance moves?? And the song is pretty amazing too. :)

  15. Those drinks sound yummy...and very similar to my weekly lineup. It's cold, but not too cold here in TN, so we are enjoying the weather before winter sets in. I hope everything goes as well as possible for Matthew! And Fun is a great bad. I've had their album playing in my car for the last few months--I love their style. I'm sorry you couldn't get tickets for the show. Maybe you can find some online? Happy Wednesday!

  16. I know that Matthew is going to be fine. I will say it over and over for you and he will be healed.

I have been having a few off days/weeks myself.

I really like FUN. I also love Maroon 5s new song, Daylight. And anything by The Lumineers or Mumford & Sons is amazing!!

  17. Your cold days sound great! I've been having my fair share of hot drinks too. I am waiting for the peppermint ice cream to come out and I have it on my "winter list" to try it with dark choc. hot fudge. It's gonna be good. :)

Sorry to hear about Matthew. Keep us posted! Doctor stuff scares me, but we always have to deal with it,

  18. I hesitate to tell you this, as the austin show is sold out, but I was at the concert that is featured in the video! and I tell you what, as he sang, Nate reminded me why I sing. Cause he sings from his soul and that's where all the best things come from. Some of my friends are in the group shots, too. I met 1/3 of fun. right before fun. existed while we were both on tour and some of his people became people in my life. That's how adventuring goes, I suppose. You never know who you're meeting. Sometimes they do little impromptu shows around their planned concerts, keep an eye on their twitter around the time they are in austin. I hope all health things stay on the healthy side and all life things stay on the awesome side, xo

  23. That is INSANE about your mouth. Glad things are going "easy-ish" minus ALL that work. But thanks for finding time to tell us all... Maybe just put on some FUN. and dance around. That always helps me.

  25. Sorry to hear about the tumors, and hoping it's nothing serious!

  26. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed that these tumors are NBD. And Fun. is a great band. You should check and see if anyone is selling their tickets for that show on StubHub. They're usually a little more pricier if the show is sold out, but sometimes it's still worth it. :)

  27. Hope Matthew is OK :) I'm sure he will be fine! You should keep your eye on ebay to see if those tickets pop up, I've found last minute tickets to some good bands by obsessively refreshing ebay xx

  31. This weather has been such a nice change of pace! I'm so sorry to hear about Matthew and I'll be praying it's nothing...I know it's still scary either way.

And I love Nate Ruess! I have always loved his original band (The Format) and saw them in concert at a tiny place in my college town. He is SO good! I like Fun too and was so happy to hear his voice on the radio after the other band broke up!

    Gosh. I hate the doctor.
I can't believe it's Thanksgiving already either! But I love eating Turkey!! Yum.

  35. I am so sorry to hear about your hubby! If you're anything like me, you'd rather something bad/scary be happening to you {like your mouth issues last year} than a loved one. I will definitely be praying for you both!

You should scour Craigslist for FUN tickets! I've had experience both buying & selling concert tix on Craigslist and have never had a problem, so I high recommend it to ya! :)

  41. i hope everything ends up okay w/ matthew! and i beleive fun is also coming to houston if you would travel for them. which probably means they'll be in dallas, too?

  42. Hope everything is okay with Matthew. Don't hate me but I'm actually not a huge fan of Fun (the band, not the concept haha). Good luck getting tickets, you should check places like StubHub where people resell ones they don't want anymore.
