7 Years

Seven years ago today these furry little butts entered my world, and I'm hoping for another good seven before they leave it. Gracie and Cooper have been with me through a fizzled relationship, living alone, all of college, three moves, meeting my husband, getting married, working from home, losing a loved one, and everything in between. They are the most constant things in my life, and if I love my children one day half as much as I love these dogs, well... everyone will be really, really loved. :)

Happy birthday, babies. Mommy loves you more than you'll ever know...

  8. Happy Birthday, Gracie and Cooper!! Their story is a miracle :) I've been waiting for the right time to finally adopt a dog, but for now I have my cat Stella who is practically like a dog. She's been my buddy through all the trials in the past two years of my life. Isn't it amazing to look back on the years with our pets and see the love and special bond that continues to grow?

    It's a beautiful thing :) So glad you've had those two cuddly pups to keep your heart warm through all of life's obstacles :) xo

  29. Love this! I have my own little kiddies and love them just as much. They've been with me through most things too. Love the way the black and white one (i want to say Cooper) is sitting, my Buckley sits like that sometimes and I always say 'That's very casual Buck'. Such a dude! xx

  34. oh jenni, i jsut read the sweet story of your babes- our nubster had parvo, too, and we found out on our way out of town! it was awful! so i definitely can relate..

    are your dogs full pitbulls? they are so adorably sweet and affectionate, but i can't tell if they are full or mixed...

    oh, and don't invite me over, because me and girl pitbulls have, like, A THING. i must have been a pitbull in a past life, i swear, we get along so well (:

  43. Sweet, sweet babies :-). Wish you could stuff them in your suitcase! But then Coop would probably be charged the "overweight luggage" fee ;-) Ha! Give them a little scratch for me tonight. I guess strictly speaking, I should be Norman's "GREAT Auntie K", and just plain "Auntie K" to these two munchkins, huh? Shew. Glad we got that straightened out.

  49. Hey Jenni. This post is hitting me hard because I have a pup that is only 8 months. I got him with someone I was with for 2 and a half years and I feel sad and hurt that they can loose their feelings for me but also our dog. Its what you were saying about the fizzled relationship. I hate thinking he is as hurt as I am because he doesn't have him there like he used too. How did you cope with this?

  54. They are SO SWEET! Doggie love is the best kind of love. :) Are they pit bulls? I adore those little faces, and they look a lot like my own pit bull terrier mix.   55. They are so sweet! What breed of dogs are they? They look Pitbull to me. I read their story and I got chills! Truly amazing!

    I lost my 16 year old dog back in May and I know that sooner rather than later I am going to get a new companion. Dogs really are the best!

  59. @Christina Marie - hey girl, not sure if you'll even see this reply (I am ten years late here!!), but I wanted to respond to your question! I know where you're coming from... my ex and I basically had a clean break and almost never spoke again after we broke up, mainly because he was, understandably, hurt and pissed that I started dating someone after only two days of our splitting! (that Matthew... he really swooped in quick! Ha!) I still get twinges of sadness when I think of what my ex lost, because I know how much he loved Gracie and Cooper and it wasn't fair that I got to keep them. But he really couldn't afford to take good care of them and didn't have a place of his own at the time, so I just got to keep them by default. I never dwelled on it too much though, and I would advise you to try not to, either. Relationships are complicated and messy, but at least the dog has a loving mama and a great life, I'm sure. :)
