Happy Wednesday, everyone! As I alluded to in Monday’s post, we were on beautiful Lake Shasta with family all weekend, and oh what a wonderful memory it will always be. The lake was absolutely pristine and gorgeous… smooth, sea green, and glittering water surrounded by beautiful pine forests and mountains. It was cool in the mornings and warmed up to the 90’s during the day… perfect for laying out on the top deck of the houseboat, floating along in a tube on the lake, or almost dying on a jet ski riding on a jet ski with your husband who likes to purposely go too fast and jump waves and almost give his wife a heart attack. Not that that happened.
The funny thing about vacation is that it’s almost always a little bit stressful. Traveling itself is kind of awful most of the time, what with the mouth breathers who didn’t brush their teeth that morning sitting right beside you on the plane, or the kid kicking you in the back every two minutes for hours at a time, or the flight delays and other things. I think Matthew and I have yet to take a trip during which we didn’t want to murder each other at one point or another, or from which we came home saying “ahhh… I feel more relaxed and stress free than ever before.” But that’s not really always the point, is it? It’s an absolute privilege to spend time with each other and family, making memories and seeing beautiful places on this Earth you might have never seen before. The ability to travel is, I think, one of the #1 things that drives me and my husband to succeed in our respective endeavors. What a beautiful world we live in, and what a shame it would be to not really see it.
Anyway, enough of my rambling for now. Here are a few more photos from the trip… more coming tomorrow!
the above left wasn’t our houseboat… ours was two stories. But this one was cool too! :)
FIL… and our ship’s captain :)
The before… as I told Matthew I didn’t want to get my hair wet…![]()
Sorry to blind you with my whiteness in that last picture. And FYI, that whiteness is now redness. Ouch. Check back tomorrow for more fun photos at the lake. :)

For as stressful as vacation can be, it sure looks like you were able to unwind and relax once you got there. And you and Matthew continue to be the sweetest couple! Yay for Godly marraige!
ReplyDeleteHe looks SO happy in the picture where your hair is wet haha typical man, that's exactly how my boyfriend would be.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it was such a fun day! PS, I like your bathing suit :)
ReplyDeleteadam never abides by my no-getting-hair-wet rules. hmph. boys.

ReplyDeleteHugs!
A vacation on a boat sounds amazing, especially in Cali! Glad you guys had a great time. BTW you and your husband make such a cute couple, such pretty people. Which means, stop cutting your head out of your outfit posts :)
ReplyDeleteYour expression in the after picture is so great! lol. The water looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I am not usually a lake person but this is unbelievable. Do you shoot in raw?
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! Cute suit!
ReplyDeleteAre you even real?! Hello, model Jenni knockout!
ReplyDeleteHaha...I just love the before and after shots of your hair!
ReplyDeletei can see your kidneys through your skin...totally.
ReplyDeletejenni, jenni, jenni, WHY didn't you take me....a complete stranger, with you and your family on this trip? WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?

LOL on the before and after pics haha! i must say that the first and last photos are my fave. you are just too stunning on the last pic! <3 :-)
ReplyDeleteit looks amazing and i love the first photo. i hope you frame that somewhere.
ReplyDeleteand i know what you mean about travel, i always find it stressful at the beginning, deciding where tog o; booking it; the money side. but once i am there i never want to leave.
You and your husband make such a cute couple, Jenni. And your pictures are phenomenal. I'm really enjoying reading/seeing your photography journey.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great vacation!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures! Looks like an amazing time.
ReplyDeleteYou were right...that place IS gorgeous! So serene and peaceful and picture-perfect...
ReplyDeleteI have always said I'd rather live simply in a shack and be able to travel the world, than be tied down to all kinds of debt and commitments at home. Oh how I love to travel!!! Hmmmm...Jenni and Kristin conquer Tuscany??? Wonder if we could write that off as a business expense...you know...blog fodder? ;-)
Sure enjoyed the pics! Oh, and one of these days you'll agree with me: that tan does NOT equal beauty. You are a stunning girl with creamy vintage porcelain skin and an even more beautiful heart. Just you mind that.
i LOVE that last pic of you- i mean, i always love ALL of your pictures, but specifically this last one..
ReplyDeleteand you should know, after 27 years of LOVING my tan, i now envy the whiteness of some folks. after my dad's skin cancer debacle, i am CONVINCED that anne hathaway, emmy rossum, and michelle williams' skin colors are the way to go...
damn the tan.
but so sorry you are burned... OUCH!
I am soooo glad we aren't the only ones that have murder moments on each and every trip. haha
ReplyDeleteI just got a groupon..or living social thing for Lake Shasta and immediately thought of you.
it all looks beautiful!

That first photo of you guys is so sweet. Houseboating is a great time. I've done family trips to Lake Powell and it's just unreal how gorgeous it is! Glad you guys had a great time!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so cool!! What an awesome trip! BTW, you're hubs is F-I-N-E fine.
ReplyDeleteI loooooove these pics, Jenni - but you know how I feel about your husband. HAWT TEE. Ahem.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, I need the info on this houseboat thing. My family has talked about renting one but I'm terrified that I will (1) get sea sick (I'm sensitive) and/or (2) kill my family after being in such close quarters.
Could you both stop being so gorgeous?! Let the rest of us have some! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous lake vaycay! And I would have totally pushed him off that jet ski. Boys are mean.
that first picture is beyond adorable!
ReplyDeletelove alll these pics and i totally know what you mean about almost dying on a jet ski ... been there!!
ReplyDeletealso, i LOL'd at the last pic, only because i think my whiteness might rival yours but as im getting older (27! gahhh!!) im realizing it's a really good thing ive never had a tan in my life because girllll we are gonna be lookin' young when we're in our 40s and 50s and all our tanning-bed friends gonna be wrinkled! jus' sayin :)
glad you had a great time!!!!
Your husband sounds like MY husband!
ReplyDeleteMe: "Ok babe I don't want to get very wet ok?"
Him: -laughing- "Yeah sure honey"
Yeaaaah. Love the swimsuit! You're such a doll.
gorgeous photographs!! get some aloe vera gel for your sunburn.....it works wonders, trust me, this advice is from an English girl living in Cyprus, my skin wasnt always used to the sun and aloe vera was my saviour and still is for that matter. :)
ReplyDeleteEmbrace the whiteness! Pale is beautiful! :) Or at least that's what I always tell myself! And that's too funny about the jet ski and your hair getting wet. I noticed you are not wearing shades in the "after" picture. I hope you didn't lose them in all the action!
ReplyDeleteYou are seriously the cutest ever. Looks like a great vacay! And that last picture looks like it could be in a print ad! Being at the lake is just a blast, isn't it?!
ReplyDeletexo, K
Oh wow, I'm jealous! How fun!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are awesome! I agree that the last one looks like it jumped straight off a magazine page!
Hi Jenni...would you ck with your Mom and let her know it shows people are blocked from commenting on her blog. Is she having trouble with blog creeps? Just wondering...send her my love and I was trying to comment.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
these photos are breathtakingly beautiful! you are a talented photographer
ReplyDeletelove the picture of you and the hubby! you look stunning! hope you have the best time friend :)
ReplyDeleteOh how I'm terrified of jet skies! Haha. And I agree with you about the world we live in---gorgeous and it too is what drives my husband and I.
ReplyDeletetraveling is my greatest passion in life, as well. although the actual travel (planes, trains and automobiles) is usually hell. but it's worth it. glad you had a wonderful time! x
ReplyDeleteGirl, even blindingly white you look gorgeous. I love these photos, it looks like you had so much fun :)
ReplyDeletehaha I love your expression in the "after" jetski picture! looks like so much fun :)
ReplyDeleteLooooove that last photo! Your skin is gorgeous, almost Twilight vampire like, but in the best way possible :)
ReplyDeleteWave running looks sooooo fun! Glad you had fun. I love family time!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Glad you had such a good time. Ashley and I were just there- you should have told us you were going and we could have met ya. Maybe next time :)

This post makes me so happy! It's funny because I stumbled through your blog a few months ago and have been perusing ever since! I have always wanted to visit Austin, TX because I think it looks wonderful! I live near Chico, CA which is somewhat close to Lake Shasta so it warms my heart to know that you were in this part of the country and that you thought it was beautiful! We do have a lot of beautiful surroundings in Northern California!! I hope you enjoyed every bit of it (minus the airplane and traveling hectic-ness)! Looking forward to seeing more photos!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! Love the photos :)
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are lovely!! It looks like you had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteYou are gorgeous, Jenni! I think you totally own your pale-ness, haha! It suits you!
Lake Shasta looks gorgeous! I've never been before. Love the before and after pictures of your hair, but looks like it was fun, even if it did ruin your fab hairdo.
ReplyDeleteSo, who else in the family is a photographer then, because there are some good ones of you there...
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of you after your hair got wet! Funny.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, truthfully that would be my main concern as well!! I hate getting my hair wet. But that looks like so much fun! I've never been jet skiing. And that houseboat looked great too. Hopefully no one got sea sick! Unless it didn't rock form side to side?
He looks so proud to have gotten your hair wet. Haha!
ReplyDeleteWhere is this lake?? It's so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNeeeeevermind...answered my question with the previous post. I've been bad about blog reading lately, as you can tell.
ReplyDeleteOh man I love jet skis! It's one of my favorite things to do. I remember when my friend's brother decided to put two of us girls (teenagers at the time) on the back and do so many flip arounds and turns that I literally fell off about 5 times. Hey, Lake Shasta CA right? That's only 1 1/2 hours away from me! It's beautiful. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it was such a fun time on the lake!
ReplyDeleteThe West Coast (Canadian is home, but I love the American one as well) is one of the most beautiful regions in the world. I love it, and from the looks of it you do too! I have to disagree about the traveling part though, but don't worry it's because I'm weird and thrive on craziness; I find the whole process fun 99% of the time, though I can completely understand why most don't. Looks like an amazing trip!
ReplyDeleteP.S. That last picture of you is stunning!
