Best of Instagram, week 5

It’s been a weird weekend.  This is one of those circumstances where shit is going on in REAL life that is simply too sensitive to blog about—the things that make life imperfect, the things that hurt, the things that can’t always be captured in words and pictures.  Do you know what I mean?  One thing I don’t ever want to do here is paint a picture of perfection that doesn’t match my reality, so that’s why I’m telling you that NEWS FLASH: life is hard sometimes.  It’s not always puppies and rainbows, and for anyone else who’s going through some hard stuff, I just want you to know that it’s OK.  We’re all in this together.  You’ll do the right thing, and you’ll be OK.

One of my biggest pet peeves in social media is when others (whether on Facebook, Twitter, or blogs) are cryptic and vague, and here I am being cryptic and vague.  So for that I apologize.  All I can say is that everything really is OK—no one is about to go jump off a cliff or slit their wrists or anything, but I think that sometimes the fibers of life that can be so beautifully intertwined can also become maddeningly knotted.  It’s like when your jewelry all sloshes around in a suitcase for a while and then you find it in a big tangled mess that has to be carefully undone.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes untangling those chains just makes me feel a little like screaming and crying and punching someone in the liver all at once.

But it will be OK. Life is beautiful, and life is good. Even when it’s not.

Now here’s my week in Instagram.  :)  Link up below!

week 5 3

1. Chamomile-vanilla tea… good for the soul.
2. The disaster that was our bedroom while I was filling frames.  I’m fairly certain that this gallery wall will be the death of me (literally—I almost fell off the ladder trying to reach the frames at the top).

week 5 1

3 & 4. On a dinner blate with Ruthie Hart… have you ever laughed AND cried AND felt like the person you just met has been your BFF your whole life?  Me either.  Until this past Wednesday night.  Ruthie, I just adore you and had so much fun at dinner! :)

week 5 5

5. Cupcakes for Matthew’s birthday (which is today!).  I used a cheap Wilson decorating kit with bags and metal tips for the icing, and they turned out SO pretty!
6. Tomato-Basil Parmesan soup… HEAVEN. (but NOT healthy)

week 5 2

7. Something I wore + Gracie face. :)
8. My sweet baby boy. (and his precious ball)

week 5 4
9 & 10. Dinner last night for Matthew’s birthday…such a nice evening. :)

Happy Sunday, my friends! It’s gonna be a good week.

  1. Great post I love the honesty and the realness of your blog.

By the way, I've been in search of a good herbal tea and was just wondering who makes that chamomile vanilla tea?

  3. Seriously, stop being cryptic on the internet. Kidding - sending lots of good vibes and cyber hugs your way. These posts always make me want a dog. Why do I live in an apt in NYC? So not very dog friendly.

  4. I still love you, despite the cryptic-ness. :) Sending good thoughts your way.

PS - Happy birthday to Matthew!!

  5. This post could seriously not have better timing. I definitely got my heart semi-smashed yesterday, and this definitely made it me feel a million times better to remember that everything works out.

P.S. I was in class the other day and mentioned to someone that I blog, and she got really excited and started talking about YOUR blog and how she thought you and I looked so much alike. Such a weird coincidence.

  6. I really needed this little reminder today... life surely isn't always rainbows and puppies. Thanks for keeping it real.

I hope whatever is going on with your life gets better (: And you're right... everything is OK.

Oh and those cupcakes look amazing!

  7. Hey, Lovely!
    Thanks for the "vague honesty"...?
    Seriously though...
    Makes everyone else feel real.
    And okay with being real.

    Still.
Praying for you and yours as you untangle the jewelry.

    ((hugs))

  8. Love this post! I understand how you feel everything will be ok.

I want you to know chamomile tea was my all time fav. until i was introduced to vanilla chamomile tea. I picked it up on accident thinking it was regular chamomile. Best accident if I do say so myself!

  10. We all have those crappy weeks or those times we'd rather just crawl in a hole and eat a dozen cupcakes. You're right, such is life! I hope that whatever it is that's casting clouds on your weekend clears up soon, my dear!

Happy belated birthday to your hubs! My hubby's birthday is tomorrow! I'm making him cupcakes too...except in a jar. Sounds incredibly weird, but probably why I'm doing it. :) Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Jenni!

  19. Sorry to hear about the rough. Sometimes life can be brutal, but its the valleys that help us appreciate the mountain tops :) You couldn't have said it better, everything will be OK in the end.

    Love you, friend!

  20. I know what you mean about being vague. :) I do that. I still am not very good at blogging about ... issues. No matter what it is.

I think part of it is good. Discretion is good. Sometimes there needs to be a balance between holding things in and being open.

  25. Sooooo been there. Chin up. You're entitled to vagueness. What I can't stand is those who DO paint that perfect picture. You don't. (So thank you!)

You know that verse..."sorrow may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning"? It's a good one. ;)

It sucks to hear that your enduring trials (James ;) ) but your resilient and Gods got you and you will see the light at the end of whatever junk and crap is seeking to suck the joy out of you. :) That is my prayer at least. God will give you light and peace in this situation darling.
