Wilderness Exploration Adventure/Extravaganza… of Awesomeness.

One of the things I really love about Austin is all the opportunities to be active and outdoors.  We have been having some amaaaazing weather the past couple weeks, and today was no exception!  My good friend Kelly came up to visit, and we decided to try out the hiking trails at Barton Creek Greenbelt here in the city.  I’ve often passed it while driving, and I always thought it looked really fun.

And folks, good times were had by all.  We were the two chicks stumbling over tree roots and climbing large rocks and taking pictures of anything and everything that looked even remotely interesting.  Spring flowers aren’t quite in full bloom yet, so beggars can’t be choosers.

Here are a few photos from our wilderness adventure. Wish you all could have been there to experience the awesomeness of this day for yourself!

  2. Okay, could you rub it in a little harder that Austin is cooler than everywhere else... and that I'm probably not moving there any time soon. ;)

No that really looks like a fun time, and hopefully my husband and I will be back and get to experience some of the fun outdoors stuff. I really want to visit Barton Springs! Sounds like wonderful weather, enjoy it.

  22. So jealous of your warm weather! It’s starting to warm up – 50 degrees is a good day right now. Love the close-up of the bee- I would be scared to death of getting stung but you were able to get it perfectly.

  23. I love Austin! One of my very best girlfriends lives there and my husband actually lived in Austin for about 5 years after he graduated highschool. I've visited twice and loved it each time! So much good food...and people are really active in your city! I loved seeing so many people out jogging, riding bikes, walking their dogs, etc.

  37. Thank god you guys weren't hurt by all the wild animals! Haha.
Did you guys end up walking a long time? My sister and I took a hike(and this was memorable because it was the first hike I've been on in forever) back this past summer, and I wanted to see how far I could walk. And we walked not too far, but not bad. But then of course, it's great to walk far, but then you have to walk all the way back....with no water...Did I mention it was the first hike I did in forever?

  38. I've never hiked in my life--but all the pretty scenery looks kinda cool!!

    xo,
    Jenna

  47. Ok, so the picture of you holding the little branch - you like a heck of a lot like Angelina Jolie!! (which is a total compliment because i think she is gorgeous {I hope you don't hate her and are now totally offended})

    ReplyDelete
  48. I totally meant to comment on your shirt, but forgot! Better late than never, right?!

    Okay, is Austin really weird?
In Portland, OR (my hometown) we have "Keep Portland Weird" stuff all over the city! I think it's kinda fitting because Portland really IS weird! Don't get me wrong, I love Portland, but compared to other cities, you would definitely think it's weird!
